With Much Thanks

I would like to say thank you to all of my wonderful friends who have Petie in their thoughts since learning of his renal failure.

We so very much appreciate all of the thoughts and prayers Petie has received. The kind words from all of his friends is such a source of encouragement and hope for us, as we struggle with this illness.

Many of Petie's dear friends had asked if they could tweet about raising funds to help with Petie's vetrinary bills. To those of you who have been so generous to my dear Petie we say "thank you" from the bottom of our hearts. You need to know that it was an extremely difficult decision to allow this to happen.

Petie has now been on his medication since Saturday and he is taking it like a good boy with minimal fighting. I have noticed already that he is far less agitated than he had been over the past few days. This alone is a great thing for Petie as it is very difficult to see him be so very agitated all the time.

He is however having issues with eating his food. We have tried 3 different ones so far and he just plain will not eat them. The good thing is that he did have some of the dry kibble this morning that was mixed with his regular kibble. At this point I will be happy if he eats anything.

The vet said that once a cat goes off his food, it is very difficult to get them back on, so we continue to pray that he will somehow like one of the foods that we are going to try on him.

He continues to drink huge amounts of water which of course is a sign of the renal failure. The Vet said that this should hopefully decrease as his medication starts to work.

He will have a repeat blood panel in 4-6 weeks and at that time it will be determined if he will require additional fluids under his skin. I hope so very much that we do not have to do that for him just yet.

Petie as many of you know is a fighter and he has a strong will. I hope that he will continue to fight this with all he has.

Renal Failure- heartbreaking news.

Hello Everyone,

As some of you knew, I was not feeling too well last week, so mama did take me to the Vet on Saturday morning.

After many tests, x-rays, blood panel, examination etc. it has been determined that I am in 2nd stage renal failure.

I guess that I join a big list of kittehs that also have this condition. The Vet said that I only have 33% of my kidney function.

I have 2 medications that I have to take on a daily basis and new food that I am supposed to eat, that now has to be measured out, instead of free feeding me as in the past. So far I have refused to eat the new food.

Mama has not had any problems getting the one pill into me, but the other is a capsule and so far she has not been able to get me to take that one.

The Vet says that he cannot predict what will happen as I am turning 15 years old next week on December 4. He says that in the near future I will likely need fluids put under my skin with a needle to keep me hydrated.

I go back to see the Vet in 6 weeks for more bloodwork to see if the medicine, food etc is having any result on me.

Mama was so shocked that I had lost so much weight.. she knew that I had lost some weight because that and my drinking way more water was what prompted her to take me to the vet, but I had lost 10 pounds last week alone... good thing I am a big kitteh to start wif or there be nofing left of me.

Mama is heartbroken to say the very least. She is inconsolable over this turn of events. I am her bestest friend and have been with her through thick and thin. She wants to go back in time to before this happen when everything was happy and good. I am trying to keep mama cheerful but it is very hard to do.

Mama says she is going to do what is the very best for me and that she will not let me suffer if it should come down to making a choice.

I am sorry to have to share this news my dear friends, but we thought it was best for everyone to know, so nothing will come as a shock.

I do so hope that I have some good years left in me and ask for your prayers for me to help make that happen,

Toast To Hansee

Today is the stag pawty for my dear friend Hansee, who will marry Poppy on November 22, 2009, at our November pawpawty.

A few weeks ago Hansee asked me if I would be an usher at his wedding. I of course accepted as this is one of the greatest honours of my life.

Hansee has been a wonderful friend to me and was one of my very first doggie friends on Twitter. He is warm friendly and so very much fun. But Hansee is also an extremly loyal friend and will stick up for anipals that are being hurt or made sad for any reason.

In the summertime when it was so cold here where I live, Hansee was always ready to send me sunpuddles to keep me warm.

When Hansee met Poppy_Dog it was love at first sight and his love has been true to her ever since. He does so love his Poppy and love shines in all of his tweets to her. This is the true nature of dear Hansee's personality. Poppy is so very lucky to have met such a lovely mate to spend the rest of her life with.

I ask all friends now to raise their glasses in a toast to Hansee, that he enjoy much peace and love with his dear Poppy as they take their doggie vows next weekend.

Hansee is so truly deserving of this wonderful happiness in his life!

Hellos Everybody

I just thought that I would make a little post to let everyone know that on Sunday November 15, 2009 at 2 pm EST we are having a stag pawty to celebrate his upcoming marriage to Poppy Dog.

I do hope that everyone can join in to help us send Hansee off to wedded bliss with a bit of a bash!

It is going to be a casual affair to just have some good fun and celebration for our dear dear friend Hansee.

So all of us in the wedding party to hope to see you all there!

Halloweeny Night

Well, last night was Halloween and I am happy to report that I did not have to wear this stupid costume.

I did however be a very bad cat. For some reason for the first time in my 14.5 years I decided to do a Halloween Cat impersonation. My mama and daddy were right there in the family room and I did hunch my back and walk sideways. I do not know why I decided that this was a good time to try this, but I did.

To my horror, Mama and Daddy did laf at me, they was laffing really hard. I was so surprised, they not normally do this to me. So, I did hop up on my mama lap and pin my ears back at her. Daddy say I look like a cat that was possessed and did laf at me even more.

So, I did what any decent cat would do and did go sulk in the closet. This turned out to be a good thing as there was little goblins coming to the door all night and there was much hollering and yelling.

I did continue on with my Halloween antics all night long, with much singing and yeowling all the night long. I did jump up on the bed and sing, I did jump off the bed and sing, I did go right up to my daddy's ear and did sing.

They were very grumpy when they got up this morning, so I have laid low most of the day, because I have a funny feeling this does have to do with me.

Coffee Lovers Unite

Hello, I know has been a long long time since I did update my bloggy. Shame on me. But I am here now, once again with blogging on my mind.

Today I was tweeting with my good friends Abi and Maddi over at @KritterKondo. We were tweeting about how much our mamas did love good coffee.

When my mama and daddy were in Costa Rica three years ago, they discovered the best coffee that they ever did taste. The coffee came from Cafe Britt, who grow, harvest and export this coffee all over the world.

My mama and daddy were so happy to learn of this, they now order a case of coffee every three months to drink in the mornings for their Brekkie and well just about any old time, because they do love the coffee.

My mama did send some to @KritterKondo mama to try as well, because well she has been so good to me, wif me winning her contestys and stuff, mama say was least we could do. Anyhow, we did send them some Tres Rio to try and her mama did love it. So much so that she has just ordered some more to try.

My mama and daddy to order the Terrazu, Light Roast, Dark Roast and the Tres Rio. Each coffee has a very unique taste, but all are just wonderfuls to drink.

Well at least that what my mama does say, you see kittehs do not really drink the coffee.

I have found this wonderful promotion from Cafe Britt where you do get Free Shipping on all orders from now until the Christmas time, so I am now passing it along to all of my friends.

Yesterday Was a Great Day!

Yesterday was a great day!! When mamma came home with the mail there was a parcel for ME!! It was from @Emmythecat and contained of all things ping pong balls. Six of them!!!

As you can see I had great fun playing with them. As a matter of fact I played with them for 12 hours and lost them several times. All turned out ok, as I just cried for mamma to find them again for me and she did.

When daddy came home he found three behind the fridge and then he played hockey with me while mamma made supper.

I was sooo tired after all of my playing that I had to sleep all night long. I did not even get up to sing at 4:00 am as I usually do. Mamma thinks ping pong balls are a great toy, for just that reason.

Cinqo De Meowie "Woof" PawPawty Saturday May 2- Sunday May 3

Calling all Anipals, it is time for another Pawty this weekend.
You voted and here it is... the next #pawpawty is going to be held on the 2nd and 3rd of May yep that is this weekend. We will start at 19:00DST UK, 11:00PDT, 14:00EDT, 06:00NZST, and yes it will be for 24 hours.

The theme of the pawty is Mexican this time so there will be lots of sombreros, flowers and feathers. All Girlie anipals remember that dresses should be frilly. Our wonderful @emmythecat will be doing another paw wall for us, so be sure to get your costumes on and register at FrugalDougals blog http://frugaldougaldog.blogspot.com/ so @Emmythecat can add you to the wall.

The Venue this tim is a great new virtual location for our fiesta. It is a critter ranch were all anipals are welcome. There is a huge outdoor arena with space for Mexican Rodeo fun. The hot tubs are outside next to the swimming pool so anipals can relax after lots of dansing.

There will be a salsa dancing competition that will be held in The Big Red Barn.

Inside are three BARS. Two of the bars will have our well known DJ's cranking out our favorite tunes. The third bar is a relax and chill out bar with big comfy sofas to rest on.

There is a 24 hour banquet in the Green Barn serving up our favorite pawty treats. There will be tuna tacos, beef burritos, honey tortillas, cheerio enchiladas, carrot chimichangas, and lots and lots of hot sauce for those who want it.

If you want to bring a platter of treats to share with the anipals just drop it off in the Green Barn.

Cinqo De Meowie Woof Pawty on May 2, 2009

Well once again the anipals are at it.  We are having another pawty on Saturday May 2 through Sunday May 3, 2009 in celebration of Cinqo de Mayo also known to the anipals as Cinqo De Meowie Woof. 

 

We are raising money to help a shelter in the UK this time and you can check this out at www.frugaldougal.com to see how to donate to this great charity.  One of the reasons that this charity was chosen was that they help all animals not just dogs and cats. 

 

The costume theme for this pawty is Mexican and all over Twitter you can see the sombreros, flowers and mexican dress popping up all over.  Excitement is in the air as anipals all over the world get ready for this pawty.

It's Tuesday

Good Morning all of my anipal friends.

I have been very busy since last Friday. I was so honored to be inducted into Duke's Royal Pack. I am now to be known as "Sir Peter". I was also hononred by being voted CenterPets cat of the week.

Then of course we had the #pussycatisland pawpawty this past weekend. All of the anipals managed to raise $1,000 for SylvieDog's charity. This was the best news of all.

All of the anipals had so much fun at the pawty. Special thanks need to be given to @BabyPatches and @Rumblepurr for organzing such a great pawty on the island. Also @Morriscat needs to have a big thank you given to him for stepping up and hosting the pawty for several hours when @BabyPatches mammas internet connection went down. Morris hosted and conducted several contests all on his own for some great prizes and for this we are very grateful.

All of the anipals had so much fun on the island surfing,jet skiing, digging tunnels, dancing the conga,limbo and the hula. There was even some romantic waltzes in there and lots of opportunity for kittehs and others to shimmy, shimmy, shake, shake.

We had great bartender SylvieDog who took special bartending courses for the event. We also had some great and wonderful DJ's and this is a special thank you for all of your hard work making sure that we had wonderful entertainment.

Catnamedsinbad made us all special surfboard with our names on them and we all had fun with them and there were even a few rescues at sea using our boards.

I know that all would like to hear some juicy details of what happened on the island, but sorry; what happens on the island stays on the island.

All anipals are very tired now, from their antics on the island but I know everybody is looking forward to the next pawty.

There are no plans yet for another pawty but I am sure there will be one. Stay tuned

My Adventure Talking to @PetsareTalking

Two months ago, my mamma was on Twitter and she started following Petsaretalking. She got to talking to Bridgitte and found out that she is able to talk to animals. At that time Bridgette was doing some free readings for animals and I was lucky enough to get picked.

Apparently Mammma had three questions that she wanted Petsaretalking to ask me.

1. What kind of animal attacked me at the cottage last summer.

2. Why do I scratch at one place on the kitchen wall and..

3. Why is it that sometimes I look sad.

I had a lovely conversation with Bridget pets are talking. I told her that when I was at the lake last summer, and when mamma and daddy let me out at night I was attacked by a great big racoon. I almost died that night let me tell you. He was big and ferocious and tried to drag me into the lake. (Mamma always thought that it was an otter that had gotten me)

I also told her that I scratch at the one place on the wall because when daddy fixed the wall he missed a spot and I find it asthetically displeasing. That is why I scratch at it; and to of course remind daddy that he still has to fix it.

When Bridget asked me why I look sad sometimes the only response I could think of was "Well don't you look sad sometimes too?". I assured her that I was perfectly happy in my forever home with mamma and daddy.

For all of you out there that ever wanted to tell your human something, then you should ask for a reading from Bridgette. I was very glad that mamma got one for me.

Mamma is very happy about it too and is amazed that @petsaretalking could know all that about me, cuz only I knew those things. Mamma said that she was not sure she believed in the ability to talk to animals, but says she sure does now.

My Anniversay of My Forever Home

Hello everyone,

Thirteen years ago today I came to my forever home from the Humane Society in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I had been in the shelter for six months when my mamma found me.

I had been adopted out twice and both times they took me back. I don't really know why cuz I really am a nice kitteh. I guess those other humans just did not love me enough.

Now after 13 years of being in my forever home, I am so glads that those other humans did not keep me, cuz my mamma and my daddy are very good to me. They do not have any kids at home any more so I am their baby.

I would have liked to have had a brofur or a sisfur but mamma and daddy only wanted one cat.

I love my house and I go outside in the backyard and get to smell flowers (in the summer) and chase bugs (real and imaginary) and sometimes I get to chase moles (kinda like mousies). They are fast and I can never catch them though.

I just thought that I would write today about my adoption story. Maybe others will read this and adopt kittehs that need a home.

The very best place to get kittehs is from the Humane Society (like the ASPCA) or from a shelter. Those are the kittehs that needs the home the most.

I am trying to get mamma to help me put something on here called "widgets" to help raise money for shelter anipals, but we is having some troubles. I am sure we will figure it out soon.

I hopes all my anipals have a wonderful Easter, but remember not to eat the chocolates, else you will get very sick.

Wednesday Morning

I am so proud to say that this is my very first blog post and I am so excited about it. This site is just developing so bear with my, as I am just a cat. As you can see I am an orange tabby and I is an old old cat; 15 years old but still happy and spry.

Well, here it is Wednesday morning and I am still recovering from the awesome #pawpawty on Twitter over the weekend. For those of you who do not know what a pawpawty is, it is a anipals that twitter and have a party to raise funds for different animal shelters. There is virtual food and drinks, dancing and pwizes. It sounds silly at first, but remember it is all for charity to assist poor animals that are in need.

I had a particulaly good time at the #pawpawty and even winned some pwizes. I have not been able to settle down since then and I was up singing about it at 4:00 am this morning. My hooman mamma was not impressed with my vocal talents.

Today in Winnipeg, it's finally starting to feel like spring and that coulds be why I was awake so early this morning. I thoughts there was mousies outside to play with.

I am also getting very excited about Easter, as my mamma always gets me Easter presents. This year I am wishing for a furminator so my furs will look nice and handsome.

I hopes to have lots of visitors to my blog and maybes other kittehs will visit and make comments. Maybe other kittehs who have blogs may have suggestions to make my site super terrific.
